ROCKDALE JOB FAIR: My office is holding a job fair in conjunction withRockdale County next month at the Rockdale County Career Academy on Culpepper Drive. Local, state and federal agencies will be on hand as well asGeorgia Perimeter College and Clayton State University.

DEKALB WORKFORCE: DeKalb Workforce Development is introducing a new Job Training and Placement Services program for adults and dislocated workers.  This program delivers an innovative approach to providing assessments, pre-employment workshops and job search strategies to job seekers that include connections to job opportunities. RECOVERY ACT, ENERGY GRANTS AND JOBS: I’m pleased to announce that the Association of Energy Engineers in Atlanta will receive $462,000 under the Recovery Act to develop a training program forCommercial Buildings Efficiency Experts.

The grant is part of a $76 million, 58-project effort to help make the nation’s buildings more energy efficient and cost-effective. It will also support programs to train workers on how to develop and deploy best practices that will make buildings more energy-efficient – resulting in fewer greenhouse gas emissions and energy cost savings for consumers.
